Are You Using the 2 Powers in Headlines?
The best copywriters all over the world must not just understand what it takes to create good writing. They must also inevitably know a thing or two about the human nature.
You see ...
Humans are emotional creatures and to get humans to do a certain task logically is kinda hard in more ways than one. And so, we would need to trigger certain emotions to increase the likelihood of them taking action.
Headlines are the same. There are mainly 2 powers that you can use in a headline and I'm about to tell you what they are. You might probably already know them and you might not.
1 - To Gain Pleasure
The first power that can encourage humans to take action is thru the use of pleasure. Or rather, the gain of objects such as money, love, etc. I'll give you a simple example. If you have a child, you know how difficult it is to get them to be organized around the house under normal circumstances. However, if you "bribe" them by telling them that they can get an extra $5 for weekend spending or something to that effect, you've probably got them.
With me so far?
2 - Fear of Loss
The second power however is much stronger than the former. When we talk about the second power, we are actually referring to the fear of pain or loss. Now this one is a mover. A greater leverage. We all know that.
Here's how it works. Using the same example I mentioned above, instead of bribing them, we would be threatening them instead by telling them that they can't go out with their friends for a week or something similar.
Getting back to the point, with headlines, we ought to use either one of these to get our prospects' attention. Then and only then will your headlines be a lot more effective. Try it out!
