Track Lighting Kit Installation Tips
It is true - track lighting can add a dramatic look to just about any room. Maybe you have a particular item that you wish to display or maybe you are just looking for some depth in a room, either way track lighting will give you what you need.
There have been some stories in the past about people who have had some bad experiences with their track lighting but for the most part the quirks have been worked out and track lighting is working better than ever now.
Do It Yourself
The greatest part is that you can purchase a track lighting kit and do the project yourself so you can stay within budget. This really is an easy project to take on.
There are so many choices to select from when it comes to these kits: there are flexible tracks, rigid straight tracks, track lights that include pendulums and jointed sectionals. Choosing the right track lighting to match your décor can be a daunting task but in the end you will love the results.
Tools You Need
Once you make the final decision and purchase your lighting kit, you should allow yourself ample time to install it. Make sure that you have the basic household tools ready such as a ladder, a screwdriver - both flat and a Phillips - electrical tape and wire strippers. Then you should pretty much be ready to roll on with your adventure. The kits do make the job a lot simpler compared to buying individual parts, because everything is included and you can be assured that they are all matching components.
Installation Steps
Then from there the steps should be followed precisely by first disconnecting the power. Then remove the existing light fixture making sure that you use the ladder so you can use all of your strength while being well balanced. When you remove the old fixture just make sure that the existing wires are neat and cut straight, if they are not then simply snip them and make sure that they are. You will then connect the wires from the track lighting to the existing wires making sure never to cross them.
Color Matching
Always follow the colors matching green with green and black with black, and so on. Secure the track connector and the cover plate to the junction box. You will have to make sure that the track connector is secured tightly to the junction box. Slide the track onto the connector and make sure that it is even and straight. Place a mark with a pencil so you are sure where the toggle bolts will go and then drill the holes where you need them to be.
The Final Bits
Then secure the track to the ceiling or spot of choice and tighten the toggle bolts. The track lighting kit should include a connector and once that is in, you are ready to start placing the fixtures. These usually go in with a 90 degree twist, at which point they should lock into place. Put your bulbs in and you are finished! Of course you will have to reconnect the power and you will be so satisfied with your work that you will hardly be able to wait to show your friends and family what a great job that you have done.
